OUR PHILOSOPHY

Nativehill — from the hills to your kitchen

We took the slower route — one valley, one harvest, one jar at a time.

Nativehill began with a frustration: the finest spices of Northeast India were leaving the region unnamed, blended away into anonymous bulk lots. We chose to do things differently.

Traceable Sourcing: Every batch can be traced back to the slopes it grew on.

Pure Sun Curing: Slow sun-dried under open hill sun to hold volatile oils intact.

Cold Batch Milling: Milled in small batches so flavor and aroma are never burnt off.

Direct Trade: We buy straight from a growers' cooperative in Lakadong — no middlemen, no anonymous bulk lots.

Our Collections

From vibrant turmeric and bold black pepper to nourishing moringa, our signature collection brings together carefully sourced ingredients from the hills of Northeast India. Pure, thoughtfully crafted, and made to bring the authentic character of every harvest to your kitchen.

Testimonials

Nobody here said “great product”

Five reviews, and every one of them is a comparison — against a supermarket jar, a gift sent the year before, the same weekday dal. Left as they came in.

Given to a cook of forty years, instead of the usual sweets box

Got the turmeric + pepper combo for my parents’ anniversary instead of the usual sweets box. My mom’s cooked every single day for like 40 years and she doesn’t compliment easily. She called and asked where I got the pepper from. That’s rare enough that I’m still telling people about it.

Noticed before the cooking even started

Not really a foodie, just make basic sabzi and dal on weekdays. But the colour of this stuff straight out of the jar was noticeably different, more orange than yellow. Didn’t expect to actually notice a difference cooking the same recipe I always do but I did.

Held against a supermarket jar that went flat in weeks

My last pepper jar (some random supermarket brand) went flat and dusty within a few weeks of opening. This one’s been open a month and still has that sharp bite at the back of the throat. Didn’t know pepper could go stale that fast until I had something to compare it to.

The part she repeats to friends isn’t about taste

Honestly the spice sold itself but what made me tell friends about it is that it’s a tiny team and the packing’s done by women in Guwahati, not some random contract factory. Feels less like buying a ‘brand’ and more like actually paying for the work.

Tested by someone who says spices abroad taste like nothing

Bought this for my sister before she flew back to the US, she always complains the spices abroad taste like nothing. She texted me from the airport lounge asking me to order more before she left. Guess it worked.
